He MY    MUSICAL    BACKGROUND g 1

In 1978 , in the sixth grade ,I approached my parents to ask them  if I could take guitar lessons. My Dad  told me if I wanted lessons I would have to pay for it myself . So I saved allowance,  along with  money   received from realitives during the holidays. I acumilated $264.00 in a two year period of  time . My dad drove me to Guitar Showcase , I signed up for lessons with BobCulbertson-  Eight months prior , I  recieved  my Aunt's Classical nylon string WESTBROOK Guitar , a christmas present . It was at the end of the eigth grade when  Ozzy's new solo album was  released , "the Blizzard of Ozz" then " Diary of a Madman. " Randy Rhoads was the reason my peers and  myself  all stood there with our jaws dropped. The crisp clear ,fast notes and energy driven guitar solos refreshed us, It was nothing we had ever heard before. We were all awe inspired.  I had already planted through some classical theory and as a school garage band we all tried to duplicate those killer riffs and play those songs that Randy played. It was a crystal clear moment in our youth our dreams were pionting  in a happy reality. There was hope. We could hear hope and feel hope in our very  bones. When Randy died ,a part of us died, I was in second period math when I heard the news I was tramitized , I knew we wouldnt see another like Randy Rhoads , my guitar hero, I was lucky to have heard Randy at all . In 1982, The internet didn't exhist yet, but Music channels and music videos did and it was MTV . Fast     forward into       July 2014 , now  48 , im greiving his loss more than ever.

I love classical music and  I play for myself now . But at those times, I was actualy a rythm guitarst, later after discovering iron maiden, went to bass and learned some drums , But today ,Randy has rebirthed and Ive picked up the classical as well as the electric continuing my soloing , because of his   sound and energy , it was just as I remembered, and   I was motivated to play guitar again in an exciting way.

------Notice as well in the picture of me  above  , my poke-a-dot top . I was 14 when I began classical guitar, but here I was 15-16 and is it not Obvious Randy Rhoads inspired me to be proud of being a guitar player ?
I wasnt the oddball anymore for loving classical .---

After I studied classical guitar a couple years , my parents did buy me this HONDO II Professional Electric Guitar and a
PEAVY CENTURY 200; a 200watt amplifier with accomidating a 18 inch cabinet . This was before PEAVY  had a built-in distorion .Saturation is what I used to produce the sound of distortion. I still own Both pieces of musical gear and are both still  operable . I never was given presents after that. But that was well worth it to me. I played bass  due to my influence  by Steve Harris from Iron Maiden .were my next of kin after the trama passed not having Randy Rhoads in life. Since then I have and still own a Yamaha RBX  Electric Bass.  I onced owned a GK STACK to power it.( best rig I ever played through.) Currently I play alittle drums and own a CB 700 with all pearl custom hardware,. Sabian ride cymbal , Zilgan crashes and high hights But I swear by Promark sticks.

After SINISTER RAGE ( a high school garage band )I was in a band calledDADDY WARBUCKS  .From DADDY WARBUCKS , BAD MANNERS, CHERRY RED  , I met my lifelong musical buddy and friend Lisa , We then formed some years after the break up of CHERRY RED,  THE SEXX KITTENS . When I was in the Sexx Kittens, I sang and played bass(I say was my best playing ever) because of a musical partnership with Lisa. A very rare thing to experience in the music world and that is someone that compliments everything about you as a musician.  Our first gig we played in front of 8000 people. It was the fourth of july at Bolardo Park in Hollister 1998. We opened up for Greg Kihn and the Tubes , All bands I have been in were original music . wow How cool is that , it wasnt planned that way either. I  have also taught guitar to beging students  .

I love all music and thank goodness Im back into guitar where I first started this journey and challenging the soloing ,.My dad and my mom both became very proud of how far I took to music and the variations of different instruments I learned along with band acheivments , and teaching guitar and although my ideal rock star goal was never acheived, Im glad it didnt , learning of Randy's last months on tour its evident I most likely would have had a burn out mode and music is still an active part now and will always be  throughout my life.
